It seems it is NOT possible to hotswap the EBM batteries, firstly because you can only access them from above the unit by removing the top cover and, secondly because when you do this you are compelled to disconnect the EBM from the main UPS.

When you disconnect the EBM the whole unit shuts down and will not start up until the EBM is reconnected - not sure if this is correct but that is the case on mine. Would be helpful also if you could confirm this, because there is nothing on this in the manual.

Based on the video I'll see if I can hotswap the batteries in the main UPS unit although there are 8 of them, not just two, so sliding them in and putting the new ones in is not so easy. I just hope I don't lose power to everything when I disconnect the battery cable this concern is based on what happened when I disconnected the EBM.

Let us know if that documentation match with your model and if you succeed to perform the battery replacement. The manual states clearly on page 61 that the batteries can be disconnected and changed without powering down, while your KB article gives instructions to switch off and disconnect the UPS from the mains power before disconnecting the batteries to replace them.
